Dalhousie - 9 Days

Overview

Dalhousie is a quite little hill station surrounded by five Himalayan hills that dominate tall and handsome deodar and oak trees. The forest trails nearby overlook vistas of wooded hills, water falls, springs and rivulets. The magnificent view of Chamba Valley and the inspiring snow clad peaks of Dhauladhar range fill the entire horizon here. The campsite is near Panjpulla roughly three kilometers from the town.

General schedule:

06.00 am : wake up call

07:00 am : warming up exercise

07.30 am : break fast

08.15 am : days activity

01.00 pm : lunch

03.30 pm : tea/coffee (if the group is at the campsite)

06.30 pm : firewood collection

07.30 pm : dinner

08.30 pm : camp fire

10.00 pm : lights off

* Final travel schedule will be ready 2 days before the departure.

Activities: Trekking, Bird watching, Identification of trees & plants, Rappelling, Tyrolean traverse, Jumaring, camp fire, Group games, etc.

Accommodation: Six participants will share one alpine tent, separate for girls and boys. Toilets & bathrooms would be of make-shift kind. Last night could be in Hotel or dormitory.

Please Carry: Four pairs of casual clothes, heavy woolens, raincoat, bath towel, sports shoes, socks, slippers/floaters, woolen cap, sunglasses, sleeping bag, water bag with strap, torch (carry extra batteries), daypack, sanitary requisites, note pad & pen. Plates will be provided at the campsite.

All the Items: mentioned should preferably be packed in a rucksack that is easier to carry. Please do not bring plastic/polythene bags or any disposable items, ornaments, cell phone and other valuables. Binoculars and camera are optional.

Registration: Please fill up the registration form and pay an advance of Rs.2500/- to confirm your booking. The balance payment should reach our office at least 15 days before the commencement of the journey. Reservation is done on first come first served basis.

Cheques or DD should be in favour of Sun Adventures. payable at Bhavnagar only.

Dates indicated are inclusive of travelling. Participants would leave Ahmedabad on the first day and reach back on the last day.

Our Fee is inclusive of accommodation, travelling from Ahmedabad (by different modes), food, service charges and service tax. All the charges are per person.

Certificate: A specially designed certificate will be issued to students who participate in all the activities & abide all the rules in all the camps.

Food: Wholesome and hygienic vegetarian food would be served. Jain food will be available on prior request at campsite and at hotels in eco-tours but same cannot be guaranteed during the journey. Drinking water during the journey needs to be managed by the participants.

Essential Medical Facilities in the form of first aid would be available at the campsite/hotel. All emergencies would be treated by the nearest available doctor/medical facility.

Please Note that the participants will have to look after their luggage throughout the journey as well as during the programme. The organizers will not be responsible for loss, theft or any damage to the participants’ luggage.

Please Submit a Photocopy of the Photo ID proof at the time of registration and the same original Photo ID proof, seven days before the departure. The participants may have to pay fine, wherever applicable in the absence of Photo ID.

Disclaimer: While all care will be taken for safety of the participants, Sun Adventures, or any individual connected to it would not be held responsible for any accident or any unforeseen incident. Participants will have to look after their luggage throughout the journey as well as during the camp/tour. The organizers will not be responsible for loss, theft or any damage. Doctor’s certificate would be required if the participant is undergoing any medical treatment, is over-weight or above 60 years.
Sun Adventures Reserves the unconditional right to refuse a booking/terminate a participant during the camp/eco-tour in event of unreasonable behavior at any time.

Itinerary

Day 1

Depart from Ahmedabad for Pathankot in the morning.

Day 2

Arrive Pathankot at 15:40 and depart for Dalhousie by Bus. Arrive Dalhousie at around 20:00. Tent allotment, Dinner.

Day 3

Orientation meeting: This first gathering is very important as it would help the campers to understand the objectives & activities of the camp. A small trek to the stream for a bath. The group will be back at the campsite for lunch. Introduction to rappelling/flyover at 3.30 pm in two groups.

Day 4

Half-day trek to Ganji Pahadi. A beautiful, magnificent mountaintop. The group will return at the camp site for lunch. Jumaring & Group games at 15:30 in two groups.

Day 5

Introduction to rappelling/flyover in the morning in two groups. Jumaring & Group games at 15:00. Meeting for Khajjiar at 18:00.

Day 6

The day starts early, campers will trek to Khajjiar. It is going to be a long trek roughly 11 km through the coniferous forest and craggy mountains. Usually the group reaches Khajjiar at around 14:00. Lunch will be served at Khajjiar. Back to the campsite in evening.

Day 7

Visit to Dalhousie town, for shopping or window shopping. Back to the campsite for lunch. Concluding session/group photograph at 15:30. Shift to Hotel/Dormitory.

Day 8

Dep. in the morning by bus for Pathankot and dep. by train in the afternoon.

Day 9

Arrival Ahmedabad at 16:10.

Reporting

Please mark your attendance with the Group Leader as per mentioned time and date given in the Receipt, Please do not board the Bus without Reporting.

Camp Site

Campers will stay in Tents. There will be separate accommodation for Girls and Boys. A campsite is near Talala, away from the maddening crowd.

Food

Wholesome & Hygienic vegetarian Food will be served, including Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Special Jain / Swaminarayan food is also served at the campsite if mentioned in the application form.

Toilet & Bathing facilities

There will Western and Indian Toilets separate for Boys and Girls. Hot Water will be available for bathing in the afternoon. Please Help to Maintain Proper Hygiene.

Weather

Usually, the mornings, evenings and nights are cold and the afternoons are moderate. It is advisable to carry enough woolens.

Safety & Discipline

The campers will be escorted by trained group leaders from Ahmedabad to the campsite & back. There will be at least one female group leader in each batch. Apart from these group leaders, there will be enough people to look after them at the campsite. All the activities are done under the supervision of professional instructors and with all safety measures. A campsite is a safe place & we have an excellent rapport with the local people. We are very strict with ourselves and campers. For safety reasons, the campers are not allowed to go out of the campsite without escorts.

Communication

Cell Phones are allowed during traveling and only inside the tent at the Campsite. Parents will be updated about the whereabouts of the campers via SMS every day. Same updates can also be checked on our website, in case you may not receive SMS due to any technical problem. Our Camp Incharge will be constantly in touch with SUN ADVENTURES office, so in case of any inquiry, you may contact our office on +91 278 2562295 (05:30 pm to 08:30 pm.).

Emergency

In case of an emergency, Parents may contact us on 09427448668 First – Aid kit will be available with the group leader throughout the programme. Please do not give any extra medicines to the campers, unless, s/he is undergoing any specific treatment. There is a doctor on call facility available for any medical emergency.

Things to be carried

A list of things to be carried is given in the brochure. Bring all the things accordingly. Day-Pack, Water Bottle, Sports Shoes with proper grip and Warm Clothes are essential. Sleeping material will be provided at the campsite. Campers will carry their own luggage in an easy to carry Rucksack. Please Tag all the belongings of the campers.

How Much Money

As such our charges include everything; still they may require some extra money for Shopping / Refreshments. Give only as much as they can handle.

Please Note

Though proper care of the entire luggage is taken, we will not be responsible for any lost or damaged items. We have a system of “Lost & Found” at the campsite. If you have not filled up the application form, do it at the earliest. The participant will not be allowed to indulge in any activity if the application form is not submitted. The form contains space for special remarks from your side like sleep walking, allergy etc. If you have not mentioned, please fill it up at least 7 days before the departure.
